This quasi-experimental study investigates the development of L2 French writing among beginner adult immigrants through collaborative and individual practice. Results indicate that while individual practice favors lexical control, the effects of collaboration are moderated by working memory and anxiety. Findings highlight the need for learner-dependent pedagogical approaches.
