The 22nd Symposium on Second Language Writing (SSLW2026) will be held at Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan. SSLW2026 will start on October 22 with networking events, followed by three days of academic sessions on October 23, 24 and 25, 2026. This year’s SSLW continues the conversation about AI and L2 writing with a focus on the humanity of writing teachers. SSLW2026 is officially designated as the Kyoto University Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences International Symposium.
Founded in 1998, SSLW is a premier international conference for teachers and researchers of second language writing from around the world. Second language writing is defined broadly as writing in an additional language. SSLW2025 is held October 23-25, 2026, at Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan.
